Press firmly on both sides of the lid until the "Hands-Free" indicator light illuminates--the machine takes it from there. After completing the vacuum sealing cycle, both the motor and the "Sealing" indicator light will turn off. A push of the "Open/Cancel" button cancels the process at any time or raises the lid when finished so you can remove the vacuum-sealed bag.
