A few years after the introduction of its Pro4 tire line, Michelin is attracting attention for the arrival of Pro4's successor, the Power line. Power took its time getting here, evolving from Michelin's motorcycle tire line of the same name, but it looks to have been worth the wait, with the new line offering four different tire options tailored to ride types: Competition, Endurance, All-Season, and Protection Plus. The entire line boasts quantifiable gains compared to its aging predecessor, delivering improvements in rolling resistance, puncture protection, and grip, with each tire built using a slightly different formula to suit it best to its specific discipline. In the case of the Competition, this meant a focus on lower rolling resistance, along with more dependable puncture protection and grip. After extensive testing against the Pro4 Service Course tires, Michelin's everyday training tire, the Competition was found to provide a 10-watt improvement in performance, equating to significant time gains at speed. We'd be remiss if we didn't note that the comparison was between a racing-specific tire and an everyday training tire; though we don't doubt that the Power Competition performs better than its predecessors, we'd advocate that it's a solid all-around race tire, durable and quick, but we'd want to see a little more testing before putting our faith in any hyperbolic claims. Michelin doesn't give detailed information about the Competition's composition, but we do know that it uses resin-reinforced rubber known as Race Compound to construct the Competition, giving it rolling resistance improvements and improved durability that justify a slightly heavier weight.8. Their win in Paris began a long string of victories that nearly spans the history of the bicycle. The PRO4 Service Course Tire is the 4th generation of the only clincher tire to ever win on the cobbles at Roubaix, and itAAAs one of four tires in the PRO4 lineup. The PRO4 Service Course is an overall better tire than its predecessor, the PRO3 Race. This comes by way of a few significant changes, but the important result is that this tire is slightly more durable and, at the same time, faster. Of the four models in the PRO4 series, the Service Course offers the best balance of longevity and performance. ItAAAs different than the PRO3 in nearly all regards. MichelinAAAs new dual compound rubber is a bit harder in the center. This allows the PRO4 to uses 7% less energy when riding in a straight line than the PRO3.
