Description
Studies show that a majority of the heat that enters your home comes through the roof into the attic space and then through your ceilings into your living areas. On an average summer day, your attic space can quickly heat up to 40 degrees hotter than the outdoor temperature.
By installing RadiantGUARD Ultima-FOIL radiant barrier in your attic, youll block 97% of the heat from coming into your living areas below the attic.
HOW TO INSTALL ULTIMA-FOIL RADIANT BARRIER
Today, radiant barriers are used extensively in many different industries including construction (both in residential attics and as house wrap and in commercial buildings), pharmaceuticals, agricultural and aviation to name a few.
The two primary ways a radiant barrier isinstalled in an attic space are:
Stapled to the bottom of attic roof rafters
Rolled out over the attic floor (alone or on top of other mass insulations already in place).
INSTALLATION TIPS
Start the installation early in the morning when your attic is at its coolest.
Keep plenty of water on hand and drink consistently (even if not thirsty). Attic temperatures can quickly reach up to 40 degrees hotter than outdoor temperatures.
Bring an additional lighting source to help you see in the darker areas.
Always be aware of the attic floor joists you walk on. Some joists may roll when walked on if not properly secured.
For DIYers, spread your install out over of a couple of days taking advantage of the cooler morning hours to work on the install.
For contractors, work in groups of two or three having one person cutting the product and handing it to another person stapling it. Shared responsibilities help reduce installation time and reduce the chance of injury from moving around in the attic.
3. RadiantGUARD CLASSIC Entry Level Radiant Barrier 48-inch 1000 square feet roll (C-1000-B) Reflective Aluminum Breathable Attic Roof Foil Insulation BLOCKs 95% of Heat / 99% RF Signals SCIF RFID

4. Sunshield Radiant Heat Barrier Paint Additive - Attic/shingle Roofs/mobile Home Roofs/garage Doors/house Paint - add to 5 gal of paint
Feature
Radiant heat barrier 3M paint additiveHollow micro glass spheres
Extended paint coverage
Additional solids added to paint
3M technology
Description
This radiant barrier product, Sunshield Radiant Heat Barrier Paint Additive is made by 3M and is a paint additive used as an energy saving barrier on top of school buses, major hotels, and buildings like Wall Mart. The same additive can be applied to residential homes to cut utility bills down to affordable levels. When mixed with an elastomeric paint the microspheres, which are hollow, form a barrier much like an insulated window does. These ceramic micro spheres when mixed with paint block the radiant heat, so it is great to apply in attics, roofing shingles, exterior walls(will mix with colors) or interior walls. Application of product in these areas stops heat transfer , unlike foil or foam, because it gets inti every crack and crevice. The application is great for winter as blocks radiant heat escaping thru attic and walls. The uses are endless, and stops constant maintenance . Directions for use are included with every order. Enough Radiant heat barrier paint additive is supplied to mix with 5 gallons of paint. Recommendations for paint are packaged with directions that come with each order.5. Barrier Coat - Radiant Barrier Paint - 1 Gallon
Feature
Contains no harmful solventsNo VOC
Permeable; does not trap moisture, but reduces its rate of transfer.
Low odor and easily cleaned with soap and water.
Description
Barrier Coat is an insulating, radiant barrier paint made of ground metallic aluminum pigment and blended into an acrylic resin along with Hy-Tech's ThermaCelsTM, blend of insulating microspheres. Barrier Coat is designed for use as a radiant barrier coating for attics. It can also be applied to sidewalls to prevent "in-the-wall" condensation buildup due to water vapor transmission. The elimination of "in-the-wall" condensation improves existing insulation properties by keeping the insulation dry. Wall vapor barriers also eliminate peeling paint caused by vapor transfer from inside to outside wall surfaces. Tests show that radiant barriers can reduce summer ceiling heat gains by up to 42% compared to an attic with the same insulation level and no radiant barrier. Barrier Coat boasts a pure 0% VOC pigment, is water-based, and environmentally friendly.6. Liquid Foil - Radiant Barrier - 5 gal.
