Description

Cancer is one of the most prevalent groups of disorders in the population in many countries worldwide. This is the second most common disease after cardiovascular disorders and caused maximum deaths in the world. Lung cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, representing approximately 12% of all new types of cancer. Therefore, the need for an effective management, treatment and cure of cancer is undoubtedly crucial. Natural products play a major role in drug discovery as well as in the development process. This is proven in areas of cancer and infectious diseases where 60-75% of those drugs were derived from natural origin. They offer a valuable source of compounds with a wide variety of chemical structures with biological activities, and provide important prototypes for the development of novel drugs. Accordingly, the present work explores the antioxidant and anticancer activities of medicinal plant extracts and bio active compounds were isolated from effective leaf extract of Andrographis lineata provides potential source for the anticancer and antioxidant agent lung cancer A549 cells.
