Description

Yellow pear tomato plants may bear small fruits, but the vines themselves are anything but compact. In fact, vines can reach as tall as 12 feet. For that reason, the heirloom fruits, which are technically in the cherry tomato class, need a support structure such as a wire cage. Like other tomatoes, yellow pears also need well-timed supplements of fertilizer to support tomato fruit production. Watch for the tell-tale golden-yellow color to emerge, which indicates perfect ripeness. In Mediterranean climates, tomato seeds may be sown indoors in February and planted outside in March or April.
