Wintergreen Essential Oil is very sweet, minty, spicy, and similar to Sweet Birch. In fact, Wintergreen and Sweet Birch are the only essential oils to naturally contain the component Methyl Salicylate, an organic ester indicated as an antiseptic and for treating joint and muscular pain.Wintergreen essential oil may be used in a massage oil when properly diluted.
Wintergreen essential oil is used in aromatherapy for mental stimulating effects to increase vibration and attentiveness. The oil may be diffused to relax, uplift the mood, and stimulate the mind and senses.
Historically, wintergreen leaves were used by Native Americans to treat respiratory tract infections. They would also chew the leaves to increase endurance and respiratory capacity.
