His town: Grizzleton. His name: Bear. His secret: Hes a grizzly bear wearing a sheriffs uniform but doesnt realise. On Christmas Eve, Doc Tinkly finds a wounded reindeer named Blitzen and fears this may ruin the big day. Bear and his deputies try to convince Tinkly that Blitzen is just a has-been actor, but Tinklys belief in Santa is just too strong. While theyre doing that, a polar bear named Percival appears in a Santa costume and no one knows what to think any more. Violent and voracious, Percival is surprised to find Bear in the town and his focus shifts from trying to eat Blitzen to trying to kill Bear. For Percival and Bear share a past the sheriff cant remember, and are fighting over the woman back home who has won Bears heart. Six books in and we finally start to learn stuff about why Bear is a bear and why there are talking animals no one ever notices. Took long enough.
