This carving is round, about 1.75 inches in diameter, featuring a classical composition of the sitting laughing Buddha guarded by a lion sculpted uniquely in icy red agate. It is certified by experts as authentic AAA agate. I have not seen a certified Buddha with guarding lion in agate in 35 years. To make this carving even more unique, the gemstone is a magnificent red with orange lights, somewhat glassy, with a brilliant shine, Even more unique is the certification, because what is claimed to be icy agate by disreputable sellers is being fabricated in labs. The Buddha carving is masterful. The Buddha has a glorious smile and the lion seem friendly and benign. The carver's work is exquisite in its masterful execution and complexity. This Buddha merited a unique bail and necklace. I used 21 gauge half hard 14 carat gold filled wire for the bail, twisting the wire into a complex pattern. The necklace is made of AAA faceted 4 mm rubies, which are the best I have seen in 35 years, which I fashioned into an extra long 29 inch unisex necklace. The clasp is a gold plated lead free brass toggle. It is said that the Buddha lends his power and compassion to the gemstone sculpted in his likeness, transforming it into an amulet of protection, good fortune, and longevity.
