If you can only afford to buy two cutting tools for your bonsai care, then these are the two you should buy. With a concave cutter and pair of sturdy shears, you can do most of the basic cuts needed to tend and shape your bonsai tree. The shears are for basic trimming work, and the concave cutters are for cutting larger growth off close to the trunk. The shape of the jaws leaves a slight divot in the bark at the site of the cut, resulting in much less noticable scarring when the wound to the tree heals.
