Deaf dogs are often mistreated, abandoned, or even destroyed. Hogan's Hope is the extraordinary tale of a legendary deaf canine hero who, after being rescued from severe abuse, prevailed as he learned sign language and provided the hope of life, not death, for deaf dogs worldwide. His courage to overcome prejudices and myths continues to provide inspirationto anyone, human or pet, that success and genuine love are truly possible. This valiant deaf dog brings to light that by choosing hope anyone's dreams can come true and the world can be filled with true faith, pure joy, and unconditional love.

Hogan's Hope, like the books Until Tuesday and Devoted, shares deep devoted love, loyalty, and dedicated bond between him and his human. It's a heartwarming story akin to that of the #1 New York Times bestseller,A Dog's Purpose, that touches the soul and encourages people to find real love and meaning in their lives despite any challenge. Furthermore, similar to Lucca inTop Dog,Hogan inspires readers to examine their hearts, discover the faithfulness of true best friends, and appreciate the loyalty of our four-legged heroes. By discovering a new world beyond the door of the metal cage, he's similar to Lucy in The Chronicles of Narnia and The Little Prince searching each adventure in his new world with great anticipation. Hogan was a dog who saved both dogs and humans alike; and, to Connie and so many others with whom he was known, he was the perfect dog.

Hogan's fame spread through television shows such as Oprah Winfrey, Jack Hanna's Animal Adventures, Dateline, Amazing Tails, National Geographic, and Good Morning America. Hogan even appeared in a segment of Reading Rainbow recognizing the heroes of 9/11.

Excerpt:
As the days got longer, the pup dubbed Number 10 was sure that Anna would have extra time for him. However, increasing numbers of after-school activities kept her from coming home on time. The dog watched from his cage as the yellow bus rumbled down the road without stopping. But, where was Anna? The puppy didn't understand alone in his metal cage and world of silence.

What no one realized was that a friend had been watching Number 10, a very special dog to this neighbor, closely over the course of the year when he came for occasional visits. Without fail, he always went over to the pen, and the pup loved having someone else coming to see him. The neighbor's face was kind and his expressions were soft. The young dog sensed that this man had a kind heart, and as his hands glided down the dog's body, they must have felt comforting.

One afternoon while Anna's dog waited for her to come home and spend time with him, the caring human drove up to the house. Instead of coming to see Number 10 first like he usually did, he went directly inside the house. He held a leash in his left hand. That was puzzling. It didn't take long for him to come back outside with Anna's mother, and they both walked down to the dog's cage. Opening the gate, the man slowly bent down and motioned for Number 10 to come to him. Most other times the young dog would have scampered over to him, but something felt unusual. Anna's mother was there and because this man was kind before, the dog moved timidly toward him. The treat in the man's hand helped to convince this hungry dog and he voraciously devoured it. The leash that the man carried in his hand was clipped onto the dog's collar, and Number 10 was led to a truck. The man gently lifted the pup inside. Unfamiliar to riding in a vehicle, the pup shrank down to the floor between the seat and dashboard, looking up at the ceiling and the windows. Just before the door closed, Anna's mother and the man shared a hug and she turned to leave. The dog must have been confused as he fumbled his way up to peer out the rear window. Dust rose from the driveway as they drove away, and he watched Anna's house grow smaller in the distance.
