1 Self-Cloning Marmorkreb Crayfish/Freshwater Lobster (Reproduces without a mate!) - 1+ Inch Juvenile by Aquatic Arts

Feature

Ships as a 1+ inch long juvenile (body length, minus the claws). Grows up to 4 to 5 inches with marbled color greatly intensifying as the crayfish grows larger. Some Marmorkrebs develop a blue coloration.
Due to its fast reproduction and nutritious qualities as a prey item, the Marmorkreb is an excellent crayfish to cultivate as a live food item for many predatory fish that are stubborn eaters.
This crayfish may TEMPORARILY change color and hide more than usual after molting, which may occur during shipping. If your crayfish is dull colored and you find a molt in the bag or in your aquarium, do not worry; this is normal and the bright color will return in 2 weeks or less.
Features beautiful coloration and markings on the body that vary greatly from crayfish to crayfish! No two Marmorkrebs look quite the same!
Please be advised that this crayfish will produce a great deal of clones, many of which will reach adulthood and also begin reproducing at the same rate.

Description

The Self-Cloning Marmorkreb Crayfish is an incredible anomaly of biology: an all-female mutation that produces its own fertilized eggs that develop into exact clones of the mother. Some speculate that it is a mutation of a Procambarus species or a mutated hybrid of a Procambarus and another unrelated crayfish.

As it matures, this crayfish may become territorial. It is important to provide hiding places such as rocks, driftwood, or PVC pipes. Due to the size and waste production of one adult crayfish, a minimum 30-gallon, filtered aquarium is necessary. Extra space should be considered since Marmorkrebs continually produce clones.

Due to its constant cloning, Marmorkrebs can grow to massive populations very fast. No aquatic animals should ever be released into the wild, but it is particularly important to NEVER release this potentially invasive species into any local waterway. It should never be kept in outdoor ponds or used as fishing bait. This is a banned species in some states, so you MUST check your state laws before buying.

RECOMMENDED PARAMETERS:
- Temperature: 65-76 F
- pH: 6.5-7.5
- KH: 6-15 dKH
- Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons

CARE INFORMATION:
- Diet: Sinking pellets, plants, freeze-dried or frozen meaty foods. Crayfish will eat live plants.
- Social Behavior: Can be aggressive/territorial. Since crayfish are slow-moving, they are not often able to harm fast-moving fish
- Origin: Tank-raised, possibly a mutation of a US species
- Average Adult Size: 4-5 inches
- Average Purchase Size: 1+ inch
- Recommended Tankmates: It's possible to keep mid- and upper-level, fast fish with Marmorkrebs, but crayfish will generally eat whatever they can catch. While dwarf shrimp can be kept successfully with these crayfish, caution should be exercised, as crayfish may catch and eat slow or sick shrimp. Bottom-dwelling tankmates and cichlids should be avoided.
