Our Sugar Free range of products are based on a substance called sorbitol which is officially described as a polyhydric alcohol or polyol. However, for nutritional information purposes, it is classed as a carbohydrate. It is suitable for use in diabetic products as its metabolism requires a low insulin demand. It is largely metabolised via fructose and not glucose.
