The checkers are stackable for when they are "kinged" but are not designed to be interlocking due to the nature of wood. Both pieces must be lifted to move a king from one place to another.
The checkers are designed so that if the bottom checker is lifted, the top checker will get a free ride without sliding when handled gently.
