Description

Kay Tenor Irish Rose Tenor Banjo is easier to learn than a traditional 5 string banjo and fun to play. Your Kay Tenor 4-String Professional Banjo will come with wood case, strap, 2 pitch pipes (for two tuning styles) and a string winder. The Kay Tenor Banjo can be tuned: C,G,D,A in standard tenor tuning or G,D,A,E in Irish tenor tuning. We have included both pitch pipes (VP4 and CP4) for your choice of tunings. KBJ40 Kay Tenor Banjos have 24 brackets, a high gloss mahogany resonator, chrome armrest and intricate pearl inlays in the rosewood fingerboard. Standard scale of 19 frets and a shorter scale neck length yhan most 5-string banjos. The usual tuning is the all-fifths tuning C-D-G-A in which there are exactly seven semitones (a perfect fifth) between the open notes of consecutive strings; all-fifths tuning is traditional for a viola or cello . However in Irish Music, tune the banjo G-D-E-A like a mandolin, to duplicate fiddle and mandolin fingering. The volume and timbre of the Tenor Banjo is suited for popular jazz-influenced music styles like George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue . The original jazz orchestra arrangement of this song, includes a tenor banjo because its widely spaced chords were not easily playable on a 5 string banjo. The tenor banjo is often used traditional "Dixieland" jazz. The shorter-necked, tenor banjo is typically played with a pick. and shell with a high gloss finish and chrome armrest. 34"L x 13-1/4"W x 4-1/4"D
