The stem and body of the valve are comprised of SS304 stainless steel, which is safe for drinking water. This is key, since many people use these valves in their home water systems.The valve actuates with 9-24V of AC or DC power. When energized, it will open fully in 3-5 seconds. Since this valve is a normally closed (N/C) ball valve, it will automatically return to a closed position when the power source is eliminated. When fully opened, a limit switch keeps the amount of power used by the valve to a miniscule levels. This makes it a much more environmentally friendly option than most solenoid valves. Most solenoid valves are fully energized when opened, which can lead to problems and overheating when run continuously.
