Description

The 250 2.5" clamp-on bench vise with stationary base temporarily mounts onto a benchtop or shelf to provide clamping action without requiring a permanent mount, meets Federal Specification GGG-V-410A and National Stock Number (NSN) 5120-00-243-1372, and is made in USA. The clamp-on base extends below and tightens onto a 1/2"- to 1-7/8"-thick surface using the included screw clamp to enable clamping in multiple locations. The body is made of cast gray iron for durability and strength, and it has a flat portion that acts as an anvil and additional work surface.

The built-in jaws are made of cast iron and are grooved for enhanced grip. The jaws draw closer together or farther apart by turning the vise handle clockwise or counterclockwise. Two steel guide rails adjust to counteract wear. The base has two 0.25"-diameter holes for mounting hardware (not included).

Vises use the clamping action of jaws to hold a workpiece in place for applications such as drilling and sawing. Vise styles are categorized by how the device is mounted. For example, bench vises mount to a benchtop; drill press vises bolt to a drill press; and woodworking vises fit underneath, on top, or to the side of a workbench. A vise's jaw opening and throat depth should be large enough for the workpiece.

Yost Vises manufactures a wide range of vises, including bench-mount, woodworking, and drill-press styles. The company, founded in 1908, is headquartered in Holland, MI.
