Note: If the update fails at any point, DO NOT power-off the drum module. Instead, repeat the procedureabove from Step 2 onward.

  1. Go towww.alesis.comand download the updater application and files for your specific kit:DM10 StudioKit,DM10 Pro Kit, orDM10 X Kit. This includes the firmware files labeledBoot,App,Triggers, andSound ROM.
  2. Disconnect everything from your drum module except for the power adapter.
  3. Disconnect any USB MIDI or USB audio devices from your computer.
  4. Exit any open applications on your computer.
  5. Use a standard USB cable to connect your drum module to a USB port on your computer's rearpanel.
  6. Hold down the drum module'sRECbutton while powering it on. (If you use Windows, you may see aFound New HardwareWizard. SelectCanceland ignore any other Windows error messages.)
  7. Open the Updater Application.
  8. Windows users only: In theMIDI Interfacemenu, select theDM10 port(on Windows 8, Windows 7,or Windows Vista) orUSB Audio Device(on Windows XP).
  9. SelectFile, selectOpen, and then click the.syxfile in the 2 -DM10 Bootfolder you downloaded inStep 1, butDO NOTselectOpenyet.

    -Sound ROM
  13. After the final file, the drum module's display will tell you to reboot it. Power off the drum module, and then power it back on.
