The number of seeds in a pound of each species is used to calculate the amount of seed of each species that is needed in this mix.

Description

Mix 102 (TALL GRASS MEADOW MIX) is designed for the environmental conditions of the northern tier of states and for sites with mesic to wet soils. Flowering period and flower colors are coordinated for full season variety. The amount of seed of each species in the mix has been calculated using the number of seeds per pound of each species factored by establishment parameters. Mix 102 contains the following 5 native grass species and 16 native wildflower species: Big Bluestem, Switchgrass, Canada Wild Rye, Prairie Cord Grass, Deer Tongue Grass, Smooth Beardtongue, Blackeyed Susan, Ohio Spiderwort, Plains Coreopsis, Wild Senna, Purple Coneflower, False Sunflower, Spiked Blazing Star, Bergamot, Lance Leaved Coreopsis, Blue Vervain, Swamp Milkweed, New England Aster, Maximilian Sunflower, Canada Tick Trefoil, and Iron Weed.
