She walks readers through the process of setting up QuickBooks from the church chart of accounts to running the reports for the year end audit. QuickBooks for Churches and Other Religious Organizations is written for beginners in a friendly and easy-to-understand style, but includes tips that even the most seasoned CPA maybe surprised to find. The step-by-step instructions and hundreds of illustrationstakeexplain how to:
  • design a chart of accounts for churches
  • set up internal accounting procedures and controls to safeguard the money
  • track tithes and related cash flow
  • send year-end donor acknowledgements
  • save money by tracking payroll without an outside service
  • record a mortgage
  • track member accounts for fundraisers & mission trips
  • and even how to find the QuickBooks accounting program at a fraction of the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for any church office, March 26, 2014
ByLois Wallenhorst - Verified Purchase

I have been a church treasurer for more than 8 years and purchased this book to help"grow" our church QB system to automate reports and information required by our diocese and to track some nuanced restricted/unrestricted gifts. I found it helpful as a reference for best practices that go beyond Quickbooks accounting AND as a "how-to" manual with straightforward,step-by-step instructions to set up the chart of accounts, the item list and other specific QB tools. I'd recommend this as an office reference for churches of all sizes and accounting systems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for church and non-profit application of QuickBooks,July 7, 2014
ByDouglas J. Haas "Always Something Different"(PA USA) Verified Purchase

QuickBooks was not made for churches, it was made for businesses. So many functions have business names that are opposite of how a church would look at it. Such as;church members are customers, member donations are called sales receipts, etc. So it is great that this book was written specifically for the church/non-profit application. I don't think I would have been able to work it out in my head without the book. Another book I bought just didn't make any sense. And it is well written with lots of screen pictures.

This book exceeded our expectations. It walks you through step by step and we were able to get our QB up and running with no trouble at all. We recommend this book to every church just starting out, you won't be disappointed.
