Description
Artisans in a number of countries have local, folk traditions of tie dying fabrics. In recent years, they have become increasingly aware of each other's work. This piece's design heritage is clearly the Indian tie-dye tradition called mothara. But its freedom of form reflects the Indian artisan's contemporary experimentation with shibori techniques.
